time is a terrible thief. it seems as it only has been a year since i turned 30. looks are deceiving, or rather we are trying to deceive ourself sometimes ... looking back at my photoblog i realized last year it too snowed in new york. i actually was able to capture a nice snap of a tree branch through a snowed skylight in my bedroom. the real "nature art". it will be 2 year since i started this crazy "journey" through time. i joked with eddie today, that i should change all the entries here & pretend that i will be 30 & i only anticipate my future birthday on this site. but the truth remains. no photo was taken last year from now
on a good (read: uplifting) note, i get 80 - 120 visits a day here now. nice jump from the 40s i used to get while i was travelling around europe - thx all 4 visiting

matchek to SkiHouseGroup:
All I have to say is that you gus talk a lot of shit - me, Marcelo,
Gill & even Rob made it to Erick's party .... (& yes it did take me
like an hour to get home, walking though snow), I even saw Mollie
coming in, just as I was walking out ....
Thanks Erick - great party (your mom has a great character). Everyone
else ... see you on the slopes 'cause you can't handle snow otherwise
------------------------------------------
Well, I kinda kicked myself that I didn't make it to the mountain this weekend, with all this fresh powder ... but hey "you win some, you lose some"

ohh what a nite ... MLK weekend I mean
|
|
So ... instead of writing up a weekend summary, let me just share out house's email exchange after the weekend;
Luke
The only thing I can say about this weekend is that a slice of pizza goes a long way in vt. And the drinking conditions where great but we didn't see much of the mountain
me ...
Speak for yourself. We do have some real skiers/snowboarders in the
house, who have even _enjoyed_ the "fresh" snow / deadly ice under
conditions. (Although with 3 hours of sleep every nite, I had to call
it quits yesterday & didn't get to enjoy fresh 2 inches that fell
overnite.)
Other then that, Luke is right - yet again massive brain damage (i'm
learned to respect the elder "indian" chiefs - Molly & Cider) + I've
managed to do Wobbly _and_ Pickle both nites ....
I'm glad we are taking a break next weekend from VT ... so we can get
f...ed up here in NY instead ... (there is like 3 or 4 birthdays
happening) ... anybody knows a good liver donor?
Luke
The real reason is your obligation to the mountain
Van
Ahhhh yes...she is...how do you say?....beautiful with her peaks capped with snow waiting for me to glide down into her gentle bosom....;o)
Erin
dude, I just barfed all over my desk!!! please keep these thoughts to yourself!!!
Van
These are the words of Antik Banderas.

yeah, so far this season we did have a bit of frozen snow, artificially blown snow or rain, turn ice snow. & we took whatever we got from nature, 'cause we didn't have a choice ...
Before we left for VT this weekend, I heard from my new friend Kasia, Killintong got 8 inches of snow, so was excited about that already. Then as we actually start riding on Saturday, slowly but surely the snow just kept on falling down. In the morning conditions were so, so, but by the afternoon the snow fall only got heavier. By the end of the day the conditions were amazing. We were able to hit powder for the first time this season. We were like little kids. Everyone was excited & happy!
There weren't too many moments to remember this weekend. The crowd in the house was more mellow then usual. All the crazy people were missing, but never less I had fun. Fri we hanged at the house, I served Polish Martinis (or Spider as some like to call my Zubrowka & apple juice drink). I enjoyed conversations with my new friends and got to speak a little Polish, but kinda was surprised a bit afterwards ... for many different reasons.
Taught another class this weekend & the supervisors were really happy, 'cause Sat was quite a busy day and nobody wanted to work in this fresh snowfall. I though my group (Lauren, John & Roberto - 17 students so far), how to ride switch & do flat spins. They loved it
Sunday morning Erin woke me up @ 7am! & although at 1st I responded "i'm gonna skip". It WAS snowing for the entire night ... 15 minutes later, I was up & we ripped the mountain 'till 2:30pm, almost non-stop. It was amazing (especially the sun in the morning & the "sparkles" we saw on the glades (small snow flakes which seemed to flair in the sun light as if there was something wrong with the matrix). I was careful this time & didn't do any stupid shit in the park. Unfortunately all good things come to the end, so on the way back I felt sad ...

- I'll explain the title in a minute .... one of the best New Year Eve Weekends I can remember.
I was able to get my ass up to VT Thursday nite (1 month of working & I've earned my 1st day of vacation - yeah to me!). On the way up Gil & Rob were complaining that there won't be many girls in the house as there wasn't many last weekend they went .... "well that's strange" - I said, 'cause every weekend I've been so far the ratio was great ... (the infamous 12 people in the tub) ... let's just say they were wrong again.
Upon Luke's request (as I'm about to reach VT, I get 'purrrrr' sms message ... thx Luke ), I get to Pickle Barrel asap (the local "frat bar" - thx to Grace for correction) & immediately started pounding drinks down with Luke, Vinny & Zach (Luke has been up there for a week and complained that non of the "house guest" can keep up "where are you?"). I don't remember much after that nite, but we had a good time.
Friday, the New Year's Eve I had to work in the morning on the mountain & had my second class this year (that's 14 students so far). The house was full of guests & I've met some new, cool house roomates: Marcelo (when I opened up his laptop & discovered Linux on it .... I knew we'd get along), Michelle, Cider, Joyce (Rebecca's guest), Vera, David & his fiance & like 4 doggies running around. Introduced new members to "cherry haze" & harry and party, conversations and a overall cool atmosphere went on 'till it was time to go to the New Year's party. I had a cool conversation with Dave & Marcelo about technology, investing & waves theory in the stock market. Then I had to make fun of our token Canadian - Rob, 'cause as everyone is getting ready to meet Harry, he goes "you guys should have consideration for others" - to which everyone replied with laugh ... the bad boy that I am, I continued cracking "eye?" - Canadian jokes for the rest of the evening. Then the girlies got into their beautiful nite creations and I started talking with Joyce, who (at 1st) I thought did not like me . She just seemed to pick on me during the evening. (I forgot the old Polish saying "kto sie czubi, ten sie lubi").
So we got our friendly Barrel Rider - Steve to pick all of us (there must have been like 12 people in his van) & off we were onto the parting. I went to Zach's house where I advertised "euro DJ" to everyone via emails. When I get there & ask Zach for the DJ, he goes "the DJ cancelled on us, but he brought his equipment" .... "do you mind DJ-ing? if you want". - so I did. It was kinda hard, 'cause this guy's music collection was mis-organized into categories. "dance" seemed to be the most appropriate for the occasion, but it had anything from Madonna to Snoop Dog & everything in between. Plus he only had names of the songs on the cd covers ... well people seem to enjoy my music choices, 'cause people were dancing & having fun. Due to my previous drunk episodes in VT, I've decided to "take is slow" and stick to calimocho. But after like the 3rd bottle of vine & coke, I got into my "shack" (Samuel L. Jackson) mood & every other on-the-mic comment ended with slow, sexy ".... motherfuckers". eg. "we have 5 more minutes 'till the New Year .... motherfuckers".
After midnight, the rest of the house joined us at the party & we were pretty much getting more drunk & chilling together. But after (around) 3 we've decided to go home & continue the party there (hmm .... jacuzzi). It wasn't the infamous 12 in the tob crowd, but it was a nice atmosphere & David kept up his dirty jokes which made us laugh (I called him DOB from then on).
Saturday. I knew I'm not going to make it to the mountain in the morning, although I've heard some people in the house actually getting up around 8am to go to work .... I'm sorry but I was in no condition to pass my drunk breath onto my students . Since the weather sucked & the mountain end up beeing closed in the morning anyways, we end up bumming around the house & ... yes drinking Polish Martinis (Zubrowka with Apple juice). At nite we end up going to the Wobbly Barn for a change, but that wasn't nothing special. Yes we end up in the jacuzzin again, but in a smaller crowd this time & just chatted about people's characters, sex & other house drama.
Sunday. What a great fucking day. I was dead beat in the morning, but as soon as I showed up on the mountain the sun came out, the snow started melting enough for it to be soft but not too mushy. But the highlight of my day end up beeing my class with 5 ladies . Off course I kept it profesionnal, but we all honesly had lots of fun & they learned so much that I've end up getting a tip . Then I decided to mess up a good thing & went to the park with some young locals ... I got my ass kicked by the simple fucken box .... after I got the wind knocked out of me. I've gothered my teeth back (not literraly) & decided to go at it again ... got my knee banged. But, I've decided not to give up & .... tried for the 3rd time & .... I did it! (but I'm still in pain 2 days later).
The weekend had 1 more treat for me & that was driving my friend's BMW 328 back home raced with an A4 some of the way & that's all ... motherfuckers![b]

... Alltough it rained on sat nite, no one seemed to be bothered by it ... there were rumors of possible snow on sun & we didn't question them, but when I woke up in the morning & actaully saw snow falling down from the sky ... Couldn't be happier. So we joined forces & did the usual: glades, superstar, etc runs. I must add I wasn't complainnig about not beeing on the schedule to work today. Super day with snow & just the right temperature. But sometime mid day my legs started giving away & not wanting to cooperate with the rest of my body. I was beat by then ...
Tub bath "trail" was aprooved by all around 2pm - we were all beat by then. In the tub we all shared "most interesting" life stories. Not to give out any details, but Scot's which involved "hog, lot's of beer & police" was probably the most interesting one J. Allthough the "donuts story" by Dave made us laugh more.
Ohh & did I tell you that I almost didn't make it back? Well, I miscommunicated with Luke & he left early ... so I'm on a train ride from Westchester ... Steph was nice enough to drop me there.
